I hate it! I just hate that one of my favorite tv series this year got cancelled. Aside from the Abs of Freddie Stroma aka DJ Luke from Pitch Perfect, I really like the story of this tv show. I haven't seen 1979 film of the same title but I enjoyed the TV series version. I hate that the show was cancelled after only airing 5 episodes.

I thought the show went on break after the fifth episode because there were no new episodes on the succeeding weeks after the fifth episode aired. Sadly, I read online that ABC cancelled it. I had high hopes that this show would last longer or even get renewed for a new season unfortunately it won't be happening. Luckily, my favorite streaming site aired all 12 episodes of the show. I finished it and it was not a good or happy ending.

Freddie Stroma as H.G. Wells

I like it not because of Freddie Stroma who portrayed H.G. Wells or Josh Bowman(Daniel Grayson on hit series Revenge) who played Jack the Ripper/John Stevenson, I like the story itself. I didn't even know that Stroma played the hot DJ Luke with sexy 6 packs on Pitch Perfect and I didn't even notice him on Harry Potter as Cormac McLaggen and I didn't recognize him when he starred in Game of Thrones season 6 as Dickon Tarly. I liked the show from the very first episode even if Stroma looked totally different as he was groomed like the young H.G. Wells, mustache and all.

H.G. Wells. Didn't recognize that this was Freddie Stroma

But I admit, I fell with how he portrayed H.G on the show as young and innocent man who time traveled to the present time to follow and capture his old friend Jack the Ripper/John Stevenson and take him back to their timeline to 1893. He met Jane Walker, his love interest in the show. She was played by Genesis Rodriguez. He also met his great-great-granddaughter Vanessa Anders played by Nicole Ari Parker.

H.G. Wells and John Stevenson(Jack the Ripper)

I don't hate it because it ended, I hate how ABC ended the show. It was not a happy ending for everyone, well except for the Jack the Ripper. The evil prevailed at the end. I thought it was going to be a great ending. I mean, yeah it was heartbreaking because H.G. and Jane had to break up because H.G. needed to go back to his timeline. They needed to live their lives separately, pick up the pieces then move on but that was not the end. I would accept that kind of sad ending. But an ending with the evil winning? Not good at all! John Stevenson changed the future. He survived and didn't die. Evil prevailed! He took down Anders Enterprise and probably killed Vanessa and Jane. Sobrang bitin!

I hope Netflix will pick up the show and continue the story. I find it hard to accept how the show ended!
